IT in education
Answer:
Inappropriate use of IT in teaching can affect the quality performance of a teacher and may also affect the learning process of the students. Teachers may tend to use IT as a means of teaching in all subject areas. One example is the use of power presentation. Power presentation is good and fast, but if too much, this may affect the teacher-student interaction. Some students still need much interaction with the teacher to learn. Also, some students will easily lose their focus on the discussion due to boredom brought by the teacher’s presentation. Another effect is when the students tend to focus on the effects produced by the presentation rather than the lesson it contains.

Effects of Technology on Classrooms and Students
- In your experience, what section/s of this write-up is/are not applicable to our students and/or educational setup? Please explain your answer.
Answer:
All sections in the write-up are applicable in our current educational setup since technology is already introduced as part of the educational system. Our students may show the same results with the observations made to other educational institutions since it is more on psychological aspect. With the help of competent teachers, our students will experience the common technological effect on classroom and students relationship with the other students in the world.
- Change in student’s and teacher’s roles was seen as a positive effect brought about by technology. But how do you reach the kind of level (of change) described here (teacher becoming a facilitator, students are in the position of defining their goals)?
Answer:
By putting the student in a certain level of maturity, concerning in the use of technology, where they can set goals with the help of technology. Teachers may play important role in making the student understand the proper use of technology and the importance of technology in their lives or everyday activities. If the students are matured enough, they can work on their activities using their own choices using the available technology. And the job of the teacher now is just to make sure to provide the necessary technology and set rules.
- Technology is a two-edged sword, its effects on classrooms and students could be both positive and negative. Under ‘more collaboration with peers’, the author talks only of the positive impacts of technology. What could be the negative impacts under this section?
Answer:
One of the negative impacts of technology, regarding collaboration with peers, is when a group of students will find a way to systematically break rules or policies set in the classroom by teachers or school using the available technology. Collaboration with peers will play significant role in making the students brave enough and wise enough to break rules while trying not to be caught by their teacher Laziness will also arise to students who became too dependent on their peers in doing activities.
- For you, what is the most positive impact of technology on classroom and students? Why?
Answer:
The most positive impact of technology on classroom and student is the change in students and teacher role, because students are becoming like teachers to their classmates and to themselves, which will challenge teachers to continuously upgrade their knowledge in technology.
